In his last-known filmed interview, for the upcoming film Let There Be Drums, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins revealed that his strategy to enjoying modified after watching the Grateful Useless in live performance.
The Each day Beast (opens in new tab) have posted a brand new clip from the film – directed by Justin Kreutzmann, son of Grateful Useless drummer Invoice Kreutzmann – through which Hawkins describes being initially baffled by their music.
“At first I used to be like, what’s occurring?”, says Hawkins. “And everyone was, like passing meals round to one another and the music’s form of beginning, however have they even, began the fucking music but? They’re, like, jamming. Is everybody on stage but? Everybody’s throwing vitality and, , passing one another doobies and shit.
“And I’m like, ‘Oh, OK. They don’t understand how they’re going to begin this music!’ They only do that improvisational-jazz factor. That acquired me good. I’m not going to say I’m an enormous Deadhead, however I really like the possibilities they had been taking the entire time.
“Three days after that present I needed to go to Europe to do a two-week tour with the Foo Fighters. And I simply began taking much more probabilities and I had a few of the finest reveals I’ve had in a very long time if not ever.”
