The Josh Meader Trio is now streaming their live-in-studio efficiency of “Eclipse” and the efficiency is nothing in need of jaw dropping. The interaction between Meader and keyboardist Matt Thomson is insane, whereas drummer Alex Hirlian holds the entire thing down with out wanting like he is even contemplating breaking a sweat. However there’s simply one thing about this efficiency that feels very Animals As Leaders-ish… and it’s totally cool.
“Eclipse” has a sure heaviness and technical prowess about it that marries what jazzy metallic guys like Animals As Leaders and Plini (or Intervals, or David Maxim Micic, and so forth.) are doing, however in a way more custom jazz context. Meader can also be clearly conscious of (possibly even influenced by) Animals As Leaders guitarist Tosin Abasi, contemplating he entered Abasi‘s Neural Contest in 2020 and performs one of many Abasi Ideas guitars.
